What exactly is an Easy-to-Update Website?
Setting up a website can be a daunting task for anyone. Where is the best place to buy a domain name? Should I use the same company for webhosting? How large of a package should I buy? And the biggest issue is always, “How easy is it to keep updated?”
At Peterson Limited Co. we have designed and set-up hundreds of websites since 1996. The most common requests of our clients are (1) a good looking website (2) on a minimal budget (3) that’s easy to maintain. Our solution is the “Easy-to-Update Website” package.
When you order an “Easy-to-Update Website” we carry you through a step-by-step consultation process to make sure we understand the look, feel and goals you have for your website. Once the consultation is complete, we create your account with 1&1 to host your website. In creating your account and setting up your website we do the following:
Create a customer account for you at 1&1 that includes your domain name (www.mywebsite.com) and webhosting.
Create custom email accounts for you. We can forward these new email accounts to an address you’re currently using or keep it as a completely separate account. If you keep it as a separate account, we can show you how to access your new email either through Microsoft Outlook or through webmail (similar to how you would log into hotmail.com or yahoo.com for online email). More email addresses can be added later is necessary.
In order to build a custom website that’s right for you, during the consultation we’ll let you chose from various website layouts and color themes. We’ll also take any logos or images that you would like incorporated into your website layout. With that information in hand, we create a website template in the look and style you’ve requested. The template includes header and logo images, menu buttons, and a common text style.
Once your website template is built, we create your Home page and a Contact Us page that contains a form your customers can fill out to send you comments or questions. With the initial set-up of your site complete, we’ll submit it to search engines and create a Google Sitemap which makes it easier for Google to know what’s on your website.
After this last step the website is yours to update as little or as often as you’d like. We’ll send you a short but complete guide on how to update your website using 1&1’s incredible online website tools which comes with your hosting package. The guide explains how to create additional web pages, add links, pictures, even change your website template if you’d like.
A feature we have just recently added, in case you’re nervous about messing up your newly created website, we also create a Test Website which allows you to play with all the online tools and not risk your existing website.

- What’s does the website costs after the first year?
During the consultation process we determine the best fit hosting package, which can cost anywhere from $5 to $15 per month, paid via a credit card number you provide. - Can I upgrade/downgrade my hosting package?
You are free to change hosting packages at any time. 1&1's control panel which you'll have access to makes it very easy to changes hosting packages.
Lower cost hosting packages may not support some of the features we chose for you during our consultation and set-up. If you chose to downgrade your hosting package you risk certain features of your website being permanently deleted. We are not able to recover anything lost due to downgrading your hosting package. - I’ve already have an “Easy-to-Update Website”, can you make some additional changes for me?
